I am extremely concerned about the effects the planned Norwich Western Link would have on wildlife and habitats on the proposed road route and the surrounding area if this project is allowed to go ahead. I agree with local experts that these road plans pose a serious risk to rare and legally protected wildlife and that the predicted benefits are far outweighed by the national importance of the area for wildlife.

The noise is disgusting. It’s a constant noise. I ask that the planning meetings take place next to a road like this and just understand the impact it has.

This is completely unsustainable.

We are in a biodiversity and climate crisis and consenting this proposal would be a serious blow to national nature and climate recovery. Nature really needs our help and must be put at the heart of important decision-making to secure a prosperous future for us all.

Wildlife protection is so vitally important in our already depleted countryside. Spend the money on better bus and community services rather than this tarmac and concrete monstrosity.

We have to stop seeing road building as a means of growth. Bulldozing through precious habitats in the name of economic growth is a mistake. Nature lost to tarmac cannot be replaced. The importance of the natural world cannot be underestimated. Norfolk is not and never will be an industrial county. It is loved because of the nature it is home to. In addition, the embedded and resulting CO2 emissions from this proposed project have not been fully costed along with the cumulative effect of the current works on the A47.

Our country is hugely nature depleted. This scheme will pollute water ways with road run off and divide up rare habitat corridors. In a nature emergency green lighting schemes likes this is a dog whistle for further wildlife destruction in the wonderful county of Norfolk.

I have seen first hand the damage that roads, constructed in the 1970s, have done to habitats and wildlife in the area I live. This damage is irresistible. Please do not make the same mistake.

I have many concerns about the damage and destruction this road will have on a beautiful area of Norfolk. An area of ancient woods; rare chalk rivers, meadows full of rare species like Barstelle bats, skylarks, yellow hammers, buzzards and insects. England has lost so much nature and bird and insect populations have pulmetted in my lifetime. For what? Five minutes quicker journey time? What about our health? The climate emergency? We need to protect our landscape and not bury it under a pile of concrete like Sprowston, Rackheath and the areas around the exsisting NDR. I often walk in the Wensum valley and it us vital that this green space is protected for future generations.

I am of the opinion that the Western Link Road would strongly contribute to the deterioration of the all-important wildlife habitat in the area.
Where will life get us if we don't protect nature?
The Western Link Road also impacts negatively the well-being of humans as it promotes the use of polluting vehicles.

(Redacted). Any traffic problems have been created by the NCC. The NDR is a plastic strewn highway with virtually nothing for nature. NCC is against nature, this is obvious by the destruction already caused by the NDR.
Is it not an offence to publicly proclaim you intend to break the law by building this Western Link road?

This is one of the few remaining ancient woodland areas on the outskirts of Norwich, and is clearly brimming with wildlife and flowers. There are alternative ways of tackling the transport problems without building this road here. The viaduct over the Wensum would be a complete eyesore.

Unless I am mistaken there are no urban centres to the north east of Norwich which would justify this planned new link road. If five minutes is really that critical to someone driving from Attelborough to Aylsham they should perhaps plan to set off 5 minutes earlier and save us all a huge and unnecessary cost; in terms of wasted money and permanent harm to the environment.

I am extremely concerned about the colony of Barbastelle bats which will be devastated by the building of this road. Imagine if it was a colony of pandas or white rhinos - the local authorities would do everything to protect such species. It worries me that it will destroy the ecosystems built there and further disrupt our wildlife. This environment is previous and unique, the road is just a mass of concrete that is not special. It is also about making money rather than improving transport links, so it is just being constructed out of pure greed. If you are in favour of this road you should feel a huge amount of shame.
Who are we as humans to destroy other species homes? If it were a developer plowing down human family homes, then there would be uproar. It is the same thing, we do not have the right to tear apart our precious wildlifes' homes just because they don't have a voice of their own. And isn't taking advantage of the weak something that the villain does? So I leave you with this - if you want to be a decent human being who lives a good life, don't build the road. Don't become the villain. Karma always comes for the villain.

Norfolk County Council's complete disregard for the preservation of this particular site and the environment in general is unbelievable. They refuse to consider reasonable alternatives to the NWL and their previous "amendment" of the route made no real change at all. I am very concerned about more and more wild spaces being destroyed and their inhabitants along with them, when there is already so little left. This is particularly worrying for threatened invertebrates, amongst so many threatened taxa, as the effects these projects will have on them is so rarely considered by those in power but is devastating for them and will ultimately be for us humans too. Wiping out species of animal in the area that call this part of Norfolk their home is criminal. The importance of a new road isn't as important as the lives of wildlife.
